Tips about living in Spain • Apply for an NIE and a residence permit as soon as possible if you are planning to stay for a long time. These will make you a legal resident and are useful for many transactions. The NIE (Numero de Identidad de Extranjero) will be issued by the immigration service and is needed to file taxes, buy or sell a property or to open a bank account. The residence permit (Residencia) is used for identification and as proof of address. • EU nationals do not need a work permit to work in Spain. • If you are moving to Spain with your children, look at the education opportunities before moving. There are a number of international schools in Spain.
